ABOUT
RebootHaven is a fansite dedicated to DmC: Devil may Cry (the Devil May Cry reboot from 2013). For clarity’s sake, I refer to the reboot as ‘DmC’ (lowercase m) and the mainline games as ‘DMC’ (all caps), This is not a formal wiki, I am very opinionated. Some pages are dedicated to archival, listing out game editions, and other menial things of the like. Really, I wanted a cohesive place where I could log as many small things relating to this game as I could. Having everything be so scattered across the internet can be annoying.
FAQ
What is DmC?
DmC: Devil may Cry is a 2013 hack and slash video game developed by Ninja theory and Capcom. It is a hard reboot of the DMC franchise that takes more inspiration from American culture.
Isn’t DmC bad?
No! Or at least I don’t think it is. If you don’t like DmC, that’s ok, I know I can’t change most people's minds on things they’ve already made up their minds about.
Why do people think DmC is bad?
That’s a complicated question. The shortest run down I can give is that a rather controversial promotional campaign mixed with fans being unsure where the franchise would actually go after DMC4 led to a powder keg of shit flinging. If you want to know more about the controversies around this game, check the page of the same name.
How should I play DmC?
There are 2 versions of DmC out there: Standard and Definitive edition. Standard is the version that came out on release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Definitive came out on PS4 and Xbox One, but was never ported to PC. My recommendation is playing Definitive, as it balances the gameplay better. However if you do not have a console, I would recommend you buy the steam version and install “Dante’s Definitive Patch” by DHMalice on NexusMods.
Do you like the other DMC games?
Yes. For some reason people think that liking reboot means you don’t or can’t like the mainline Devil May Cry games. From my experience the vast majority of people who like reboot today also like the mainline games.
